NOTE: We are planning for an in-person event in 2021. However, due to Covid-19, the event may be entirely virtual or a hybrid. A final decision will be made in late May. All registered authors and vendors will be included regardless of the format.

Following is the information regarding our usual in-person event for future reference.


General admission to the Festival (including author exhibits, seminars, and featured author sessions) will be FREE to the public and this 14th annual event will feature the following:

The 2021 Festival will be marketed nationwide to over 1,100 Black book clubs, 25,000 book readers, 100 libraries, and 1,000 chapters of non-profit organizations (e.g., sororities, fraternities, etc).  National and local media will be apprised of the event.  A full-color NBBF Newspaper will be distributed to schools and other strategic locations throughout the greater Houston area during the weeks leading up to the event.  The newspaper will include the full Festival schedule, as well as information on featured authors, entertainment and workshop presenters.  The event will also be heavily promoted throughout the NBBF social media network (Facebook and Instagram), which has 85,000+ fans.

Authors may obtain a covered table during the Festival.  Author tables include two chairs, two badges (for an assistant, if needed) and table signage.  In addition, authors who register with tables will receive one (1) ticket to both breakfasts on Friday and Saturday.  Authors will be grouped according to genre for easy reader navigation through the Festival exhibit area.

NOTE:  Since the 2021 Festival will be held on church property, the display of books with profanity or nudity on the covers is strictly prohibited. In addition, books in the erotica genre cannot be displayed.

To make interim payments or to pay amounts that are different from those shown above, log into your Paypal account and send the payment to the following email address:  grichardson@cushcity.com.  In the subject, put "NBBF Payment," your payment will be posted to your NBBF account, and you will receive a confirmation email. For authors that have already made deposits, you should have already received a Paypal invoice from which you can make incremental payments.

Small Business/Educational Institution Tables
NBBF accepts a limited number of non-book/small business and institutional vendors.  The standard registration rate for small business vendor tables is only $400.00, with a 50% deposit due upon registration with the final balance due by August 31, 2021. The small business/institution vendor packet should be downloaded and reviewed by all vendors who reserve tables, and is available here:

Publisher Exhibits
The standard registration rate for publisher exhibits is only $500.00 and a deposit of 50% due upon registration. The remaining balance is due by August 31, 2021.

Publisher exhibits include 12' x 6' draped tables, 4 chairs, 4 vendor badges and table signage and 4 tickets to both the Friday and Saturday breakfasts.  The publisher/vendor packet should be downloaded and reviewed by all publishers who reserve tables, and is available here:  http://www.nationalblackbookfestival.com/publishers.pdf

HOTELS: The host hotel is the Sheraton North Houston and rooms are $89.00/night. NBBF will provide complimentary shuttle service to and from the Sheraton daily. A list of hotels close to the venue are online here.
